Terms of Use
Last updated: June 11, 2026
Popdoc is a free utility offered as a gift, with no warranty and no obligation. By downloading or using it, you accept these terms. Please read them — in short: it is provided "as is," you use it at your own risk, and you remain responsible for your own files and your own Google account.
1. Who provides Popdoc
Popdoc ("the app", "the software") is created and made available free of charge by Guillaume Cyr ("we", "us", the author). Contact: [email protected].
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Popdoc application and the getpopdoc.com website. By downloading, installing or using Popdoc, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use the app.
2. What Popdoc does
Popdoc is a macOS utility that, when you open an Office file (such as .docx, .xlsx, .pptx, .doc, .xls, .ppt, .odt, .rtf or .csv), uploads that file to your own Google Drive, asks Google to convert it into a native Google Docs, Sheets or Slides document, and opens the result in your browser.
Popdoc acts only on files you explicitly hand to it, and only within your own Google account, which you authorize through Google's standard sign-in flow.
3. Free, with no obligation
Popdoc is provided free of charge. There is no purchase, no subscription and no payment of any kind.
Because it is free, we owe you no service level, no availability guarantee, no support obligation, and no commitment to maintain, update or continue the project. The app may change, break, or be discontinued at any time without notice.
Nothing in these Terms creates a contract for paid services, a partnership, or any ongoing obligation on our part.
4. Provided "as is" — no warranty
Popdoc is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE", without warranty of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we disclaim all warranties, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, availability, and non-infringement.
We do not warrant that Popdoc will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that it will meet your requirements, that conversions will be complete or faithful to the original, or that any defect will be corrected.
File conversion is performed by Google's services and may alter formatting, formulas, layout or content. We have no control over and accept no responsibility for the result of that conversion.
5. Your responsibilities
You are solely responsible for the files you choose to open with Popdoc and for keeping your own backups. Always keep a copy of any important file before using the app. Popdoc is not a backup tool and must not be relied on as one.
You are responsible for your Google account, your credentials, and for complying with the terms and policies that govern it. You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to upload and convert the files you process, and that doing so does not violate anyone's rights, any law, or any confidentiality or employer obligation.
You agree not to use Popdoc for any unlawful purpose, nor to attempt to misuse, overload, reverse the security of, or interfere with the app or the services it relies on.
6. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will the author be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary or punitive damages, nor for any loss of data, files, documents, profits, revenue, goodwill, time or business, arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, Popdoc — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
This includes, without limitation, any damage resulting from upload, conversion, deduplication, alteration, corruption or loss of files; from interactions with Google services; from bugs, downtime or security issues; or from any decision you make based on the app's output.
To the extent any liability cannot be excluded, the author's total aggregate liability arising out of or related to Popdoc is limited to zero euros (€0), reflecting the fact that the app is provided free of charge.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions or limitations of liability; in that case the above applies to the maximum extent permitted, and nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited (such as for gross negligence or wilful misconduct).
7. Relationship with Google
Popdoc is an independent project. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to Google LLC. "Google", "Google Drive", "Google Docs", "Google Sheets" and "Google Slides" are trademarks of Google LLC.
Your use of Google Drive and related services is governed by your own agreement with Google and by Google's terms and policies. We are not responsible for Google's services, their availability, their pricing, their behaviour, or any change Google makes to them.
8. Open source & intellectual property
Popdoc's source code is released under the Apache License 2.0. Your rights to use, modify and redistribute the code are governed by that license, including its own disclaimers of warranty and limitations of liability, which apply alongside these Terms.
The Popdoc name, logo, mascot and visual identity are not covered by the open-source license and remain the property of their author. These Terms grant you no rights to those marks.
9. Privacy
Your use of Popdoc is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains what the app accesses and keeps — in short, almost nothing, with no servers on our side.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms at any time. When we do, the date at the top of this page will change. Your continued use of Popdoc after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Governing law & contact
These Terms are governed by French law, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rules of your country of residence.
